The Knot Ultimate Wedding Planner & Organizer

This is so exciting! I love seeing our couples’ weddings and sessions getting featured in online blogs and printed wedding magazines. I don’t always post those here, but I almost always do on facebook, and I have a stack of magazines in the studio that we’ve been published in.  This, however, is a little different. Even bigger (to me) than a daily wedding inspiration blog or monthly or seasonal magazine publication: this is the first time we’ve had our work published in a book! I couldn’t wait to get to Barnes & Noble to pick up my copy of The Knot Ultimate Wedding Planner and Organizer. Inside, you’ll see images from Lauren & Michael’s wedding, and Janelle & Shaun’s wedding, alongside some of the best wedding photographers in the country. Pretty exciting :) Not to mention, it’s a wonderful planning resource for brides-to-be. Definitely check it out!

I was also happy to see a few other local wedding friends:  Stems Event Design, Jen Kroll, Harrison Studio, In Any Event by Jodi Bos, Designs by Robyn Love, and Modern Day Floral were also featured! Go Grand Rapids! Michigan knows how to do weddings ;)

Jackson :: 18 months!

Gah, I love this boy! You may remember him from previous sessions (6 months, newborn, his parents maternity session) – I love seeing little ones grow up in front of my lens. He has the biggest smile, and best belly laugh! He is growing up to be such a smart little guy, and so handsome too! But most noticeably, he is positively JOYFUL. Just flipping through these pictures, I can feel that pure joy that babies and toddlers have. So contagious, and such a blessing!

Enjoy the update on little Jackson, along with Christina and Andy. I love these lifestyle sessions, like a little peek into their daily lives :)

So happy. Goofy giggly toddler!

Happy heart :) Make today joyful!!

Ethan :: Newborn

Sweet boy! Little Ethan was just a week old here. He was interested in what we were doing, so he stayed awake for most of his session. He loved snuggling with his beautiful mama, chewing his pacifier sideways, and being held by dad between sets. He is such a handsome little man, and so loved already. Congratulations Brenda and Tom!!

Ethan was happiest by mom & dad, and I loved them all together too. Lifestyle sessions are my absolute favorite – it’s like a captured memory from a moment in everyday life. And in the case of a newborn lifestyle session, that moment is very fleeting. I love how these images feel.

I super snuggly love this one!

And baby toes… le sigh!

He finally zonked out at the very end of our session, so I was able to get a few sleepy baby pics. I loved him in the stripes against his green handmade blanket!

This is an idea I found and loved on pinterest. We used a book from Brenda’s childhood collection.

G’nite, sweet baby boy!

Eliza and Patrick :: Engaged!

Ooh, I love this! Eliza had a vision for her and Patrick’s engagement session, and I couldn’t wait to bring it to life. It’s very different from the way I typically shoot, so to be honest, it gave me a little case of the butterflies. No natural light? Eek! But I came prepared and inspired, and they brought their sexy style and gorgeous smiles. We started at the Bubble Room in Vinology of Ann Arbor, and then took to the streets. It was a beautiful, but cold Michigan night. Eliza and Patrick were absolutely awesome! I loved that we did some sets that were intimate and quiet, and some fun spontaneous ones. We had a great time getting to know each other, and truly enjoyed the city at night together. Their wedding later this year? Going to be phenomenal!
