I love when a friend asks me to photograph her. I love it even more when she squeals in excitement upon seeing her private gallery, and gives me permission to share her images! When we were first setting up her boudoir session, I asked her if it was going to be a gift for her guy. She smiled and said, “actually, it’s for me”. What better gift can a girl give herself but the opportunity to look and feel gorgeous, confident and sexy, and have that moment captured? And yes, okay, she IS getting a hot little album for him too… Lucky guy ;)

Meet one of my very best friends, Rachel, who is as beautiful on the outside as she is on the inside ~

I know Rachel is gorgeous, but I can’t get over how enchanting she looks. When you FEEL beautiful, it shows. It’s in the eyes.

Later that evening, we took his bike out into an alley in Minneapolis. Passerby’s thought she was someone famous… let’s just say she had a few admirers ;)

I love shooting boudoir. Love it! It gives me a chance to think differently, see differently. More sexy, more intimate. And it gives me a chance to show someone how incredibly amazing they are. Going through this beautiful girl’s images, I was giddy – I couldn’t wait to show her! And the email she wrote me this morning after seeing her gallery… so sweet. There is nothing in the world like making someone feel beautiful.

She decided to book her session as a gift for her new husband. I think it goes without saying that he is going to adore his sexy little book!

{ A Little Sexy :: Bay Area Boudoir }

When I think about what it is I love about being a photographer, at the very top of the list is making people feel beautiful, and showing them how truly amazing they are. I love it when I’m photographing someone, and they start to come alive, start to open up to the camera and let their spirit shine through. I love when this happens with engagement sessions and weddings, it makes me and my clients feel close. And so it felt like a very natural progression for me to start photographing boudoir. My clients and I already feel natural working together, and I know how to photograph them in their best light, while letting them feel comfortable, sexy and fun. Boudoir for me isn’t smutty, it’s glamorous, sensual, playful and sexy. Isn’t that what every girl wants to be?

And a little side story… Confession time, actually. A little over 4 years ago, just before Jamie and I got married, I had my own boudoir session done as a wedding gift. I was working as a graphic designer at the time. The moment I walked into my photographer’s studio, I felt at home. I had a blast throughout the shoot, and absolutely felt like a supermodel. I went home that evening with this giddy feeling inside… I wanted to be a photographer. I wanted to make people feel THIS amazing. It would be another year or so before I would even seriously consider that as a real possibility. Oh yeah, and in case you’re wondering, Jamie LOVED his gift ;-)
