Guess who’s getting married…. in a month! Ah!
Katherine & Wils and I met up in Carmel-By-The-Sea for their engagement session on a lovely, yet a bit overcast evening. You never know what you’ll get when planning a session at the beach, but you always know it’ll be good. Bright sun? Dynamic, glowy, high contrast images. Overcast? Amazing skintones, and soft romantic diffused light. I mean…. just look at this pastel palette. ::winces in pain at all the beauty::
Katherine & Wils, I can’t wait to see you again next month. You are both effervescent and absolutely overflowing with joy and love. It’s going to be an incredible day, I just know it!

Congratulations to Anna & Matthew!! They were married last weekend on a warm summer evening at Viaggio Winery. The day was absolutely beautiful, with romantic rustic details, tones of navy, touches of pink, and pale blush florals. Not only was it beautiful, it was also emotional, warm, and joyful. I found myself tearing up a few times! Such an incredible day to be part of. Congrats again, you two!!
It’s a fairytale wedding, no? 🙂 Viaggio Winery Wedding

When we were planning Leo’s nursery, we were faced with a unique challenge. In our tiny California home, we only have 3 bedrooms. At the time, Leo’s room was my office / guest room. Space was already tight! I ended up selling my desk, and moving all of my office materials to a hall closet. But we still needed a guest room…
We decided to multitask his room, and try to keep a guest bed. We opted for a mini crib to save on space. I had Asher, then 4 years old, give one a spin at a baby furniture store to make sure it would be big enough. He fit, barely, but still! I love this one we found from Babyletto! As for a guest bed, I found this beautiful Stratton daybed from Pottery Barn. We love the storage baskets underneath – we keep extra bedding in one basket, and Leo’s toys in the others. We keep two twin mattresses on the daybed, so we can lay one mattress on the floor and comfortably sleep two guests. The mini crib is on wheels and can fit through doorways, so we can just wheel him into our room. Perfect!
Once we got the mechanics of the room solved, it was time for design and adding in other pieces of furniture. I knew I wanted a super comfortable rocking chair – I learned the first time around that I’d spent a LOT of time there! West Elm came to the rescue with this beauty, which has a great design that can move to the living room in a few years. This low bookshelf is great because Leo can grab books on his own – it’s just the right height. It’s height and position also helps it double as a side table next to the chair. In the closet, we added shelves and storage bins to keep everything organized and accessible.
As for a theme – we’re not too theme-y, but knew we wanted a cool, calm space that he could grow into. We went with a light coastal / adventure theme, with artist prints from Society 6, and various finds from local boutiques. He loves his room, and so do we! It really is a calming space, and we often retreat here when the afternoons get too hot, or the day has been too busy. Even Asher enjoys playing in here, and they love throwing the extra mattress on the floor for an indoor trampoline. It’s our little happy place!
It’s been bittersweet packing up this sweet little room, but we are definitely looking forward to having more space in our new home. Leo (who is now almost a 1 and a half!) will have is very own room, and guests will have their own space too. Stay tuned – toddler room on the way!!
When I opened the folder with the nursery photos, I also found baby photos from Leo’s first week. Ohhhhh my goooodnesssss! My heart!

With little Madison’s first birthday on the way, her beautiful mama and I planned a relaxed, stress-free outdoor session at sunset. I always plan for extra time at this age – with babies and toddlers, we run on their schedules, not ours, am I right? 😉 But we didn’t even need it – Madison was an absolute dream! She was totally content, and camera-ready with big smiles and giggles. Such a sweetheart! I love everything about their session, but mostly the warm, joyful feel. So much love here!
“Kristen was an absolute joy to work with. She is super down to earth, easy going, fun to work with, and beyond talented. She was amazing working with my 10 month old daughter and making my family feel so comfortable which truly reflected in our photos. The moments she captured of my little family are ones I will cherish forever and I hope she continues to do our family photos for years to come!” -Laura
