Last weekend we had some new friends over, and I inadvertently spilled a little secret of mine. Well, I guess it’s not so secret if you know me, especially if you’ve known me a long time. I keep a journal, in the form of an annual planner. It started in 7th grade when our homeroom teacher made us use academic planners to keep our assignments in order. It quickly became my little happy place where I’d doodle and draw, write lyrics to songs in my head, and the occasional (okay, frequent) boys’ names. These days, the pages are filled with reminders and thoughts, recaps of days, funny things my 2-year old says, and scrumptious little bits of gratitude and bliss. And yes, drawings and song lyrics still make regular appearances 🙂
I love to journal. I love to write, and I love to hold onto and savor bits of happiness and joyful moments. I suppose that’s part of why I gravitated toward photography. It’s like a lifelong visual journal for me. It’s just icing on the cake that others happen to enjoy my vision, and commission me to do their visual journaling as well. Telling other people’s life, family, and love stories has become a very wonderful and fulfilling part of my life.
I’d like to share more of me, my life, and my joy with you. This is the start of a little weekly series I’ll be calling This Bliss, where I share whatever’s making me smile or laugh. I’m hoping it’ll make you smile and laugh too 🙂
For today, it’s only appropriate to talk planners! I go back and forth between book bound and spiral bound planners. This year, I went back to one of my old favorites, this sleek little puppy by Gallery Leather, the Key West Desk Planner. (Psst, all of their 2014 planners are currently 50% off!)
Other favorites in this pile include: Lilly Pulitzer, Erin Condren, and Paper Source. Do you have a personal favorite? Or have you converted completely over to digital? For appointments, important dates, sessions, and weddings, I do both. There’s just something about putting a pen to paper… 🙂
