Here we go! Michigan to California!

We have some very exciting news!! The past few weeks have been a whirlwind of smiling, crying, dreaming, planning, packing, cleaning, and laughing at the craziness… everything that goes with a big move!  I still can’t believe it when I say it out loud…

We are Moving!

To freaking CALIFORNIA!!!

pacific coast san francisco ca

So, where did this all begin?

Well… as many of you know, Jamie is an Engineer, with experience in Avionics, Aerospace, and Automotive Software Engineering. An admitted techie geek, he’s a big fan of Tesla Motors and their high end all-electric cars. One night, we were talking about life, where our path is going, and what our next adventure should be. We decided to plan a getaway out to the Pacific Coast, and decided on San Francisco as a destination. Naturally, that made him think of Tesla, as they are based in the Bay Area. Feeling especially ballsy, he blindly sent in his resume. For his dream job. We didn’t actually expect anything to come of it, and then THEY CALLED.

::jaw drop::

Long story short, the dream job has become a reality. They’re moving us out to the West Coast in 2 weeks! Jamie will be working for Tesla Motors in Palo Alto, CA!  I’m so proud of him, and so excited that he’ll be working with a world-class team of engineers doing work he loves for a company he really believes in. Could there be anything better? If you want to know more about what he’ll be working on, ask him! He’s pretty excited about it 🙂

So here we are, starting the next chapter! We’ve been in Michigan for 7 years, and have enjoyed our time here so much. We’ve made some incredible friends, and have fallen smitten with the mitten! 🙂 We’ll definitely be back to visit. In fact, I’ll be here a lot! I have a full season of weddings yet to shoot, so I’ll be here, there and everywhere!

As for Minnesota? We still wonder if we’ll move back someday, but we know in our hearts that our adventure isn’t over yet. In the meantime, we’ll be making our family visits as usual, and you are all welcome to come stay with us anytime! Really!

So what does this mean for K. Holly? With Jamie’s increasing responsibility, he will be focusing all of his energy on his own career and projects. I of course, am continuing to shoot weddings, and will be adding photographers to the K. Holly team! Yay! This is a really fun time for me too, seeing my business grow in ways I hadn’t expected. I’ll be accepting applicants for second shooters and assistants in both Michigan and San Francisco for 2013 and 2014. If you are interested in working with me, please don’t hesitate to get in touch!

Current clients, you will be getting the same stellar service and imagery that you have come to expect. I’ll be talking to each of you individually about the plans for your wedding.  So have no worries, I will absolutely be there!  🙂

Lastly, I wanted to thank you SO very much for your support over the past few years as I’ve grown my business here in Michigan. I can’t wait to see where this next step takes us. It’s going to be a challenging transition, but I have a great feeling about it. I am excited to share our stories with you as we go on this crazy adventure! As always, I’ll be checking in here on the blog, on Facebook, and through pretty little snapshots on Instagram.

Here we go! California, here we come!!
